Author Introduction: The Real Me
Hey everyone! My name is Krisann Holthaus, and I have no idea what I am doing with my life! I am a 25-year-old, who lives, works, and breathes in Mount Horeb, WI, or Wisconsin in general, as I’ve lived here all my life. I work at Kwik Trip–a major convenience store in the Midwest which is one of the top 100 places to work for in the US–and a cute, adorable tea shop called Telsaan Tea. I absolutely love working and shopping at small-town businesses like Telsaan Tea. We have 140+ loose leaf teas and tisanes (everything not of the Camellia Sinensis persuasion). Loose leaf is so much better for you anyway than bagged tea. The bagged teas are just granules which give you a POW, then you’re done after just ONE cup. With loose leaf, you can get two, three, four, etc. cups out of just ONE teaspoon of tea. (Alright, Krisann, enough advertising…)
Teas and small shops are just one of my passions, so is the great outdoors, animals, writing (not so much reading), Renaissance Faires, family/friends, and the Lions Club. I love to try new things, and small shops give me the perfect opportunity. Unique gifts should be all the rage–no one else will go to the same shop or art fair, right?! I love hiking, even hiked the Grand Canyon this year for my birthday (more to come about that later…). Kevin and I got walking staffs at Bristol Renaissance Faire, which is perfect for hiking! My family, I live with still–but eventually will change… maybe–my great aunt (who could be my mother’s sister) and my great uncle. Been with them for three years now, and they’ve helped me out a lot, which I am eternally grateful for. My cousins, their daughters, are just like sisters to me–even if one refuses to read what I write. My parents I love and my grandparents are awesome. My brother and I are civil, but that’s enough on that. Lions Club has brought me an even bigger family, which I love as well. There are so many opportunities which I may not have had without Lions Club. Traits I keep with me to any job I have.
Now, third, but definitely not least, Kevin. Kevin is my companion and partner–boyfriend, best friend, etc.–for about four months now. He has shown me so much love and support, even before we started dating, and I love him for that. He balances me out like no other. I truly appreciate everything he has been since I met him three years ago. (I just had to give a little shout out–love you!)
My love for animals is well known. If there is ever a dog walking past me, I must go say hello. Dogs are definitely on the top of my list, but I love all animals (except mosquitoes, but whoever likes them… oh, and flies and ants too). My favorite animal is a White Bengal Tiger; I have always found them majestic. But I think animals deserve more credit and protection than they do in life. There are too many habitats disappearing, homes being demolished, and it is because of human’s greed. Animals must live here too, and they are not all pets. I admit; I have a Crested Gecko named Gilbert. Gilbert has his own personality, and he loves selfies. But I know for a fact he deserves to be wild, it’s just breeding which makes it not possible anymore.
You will get to know me more, as my short stories, non-fiction articles, and poetry is released. When I write, there is usually one passion at least emerging–or at least I hope. But even if I did not mention everything, I hope what you can take from this piece is, I am trying. Whether it is to learn, explore, or release, it is my life, and I will do what I need.
