Dear Mom: Article 04
Do you love my Dad? How did you know he was the one you wanted to be my Dad? Where did you guys meet? How old were you?
L. The Spitting Image of You.
Dear Spitting Image Of Me,
Love is a strange word. It has a lot of meanings. Personally, I don’t think I can describe all the meanings it has. You can love a person in different ways. Such as the way I love your father. I love him so much that I would do whatever it takes to help make sure he stays in your life. I love him the way you love strawberry Lactaid. I love him the way you love your little sister. I met your dad through a friend of ours, who is no longer active in our lives. He chooses to be stuck in the past and hold grudges. It’s not right. But I guess that’s the way life plays its cards sometimes.
As for wanting him to be your dad; there isn’t a real answer for that. He just ended up being the person to help me create you. You were created out of love, but a big surprise as well. I hadn’t known your dad long before you came around. Needless to say, you were the spark to a life-long friendship. You helped complete us. The funny thing is, I never knew I was missing a piece of my life until I had you. Life is funny that way at times.
I was 22 years old when I met your dad. I was 23 years old when you were created. I was 23 years old when you were born as well. 23 was the best year of my life. It was a year I will never forget. There were trials, there were temptations, and triumphs. I made it through them all with you by my side. I escaped death, twice. I got back on my feet, I changed my life around. You were all I needed to complete me.
Your dad is a good man. You complete him just as much as you complete me. You are the world’s best daughter. You have so much love, and character in you. As much as I can’t wait to see the type of woman you will turn into, I can. I can wait because I want to hold you now while you are small because time is going by so quickly. I don’t want to miss a minute. We are all on borrowed time. We need to spend it wisely. Your sister and you are my whole world. Your dad started a fire, that will burn forever. It’s called being a mother. Thank you for giving me this gift.
