Legacy

Your hand on my face wakes me
Soft arms embrace me
Your heart was forged from gold
Bumped heads consoled
Eyes bright like blue skies
Your innocent soul is connected to mine
As if I’ve known you for a lifetime
Our bond is unspoken
Even through trials we’ll never be broken
Tears turn to smiles
That touch hearts for miles
Though you weren’t part of the plan
You were never a mistake
You’ll always be my big chunky man
In a world that will be yours to take
Dimples so vast they could hold a sea
When you smirk something comes over me
I can’t let go in fear of how alone I’ll be
You may be my little baby someone to love and protect
In all honesty you’re my rock keeping me from becoming a wreck
Golden strands rest across that perfect head
I see each one sparkle as I lay you down to bed
You give me strength I’ve never known
When I’m beside you I am home
So thank you for being my son and
Thank you for letting me be your mom
