Adoption Did That To Me

Apple blossoms in spring time
Coffee House Writers / Karen Elizabeth

I have sweet childhood memories.

The trips, the adventures, the family time.

It was all magical

Adoption did that to me.

I called her mom; I called him dad.

They shared their world with me.

They gave me their love.

Adoption did that to me.

I’m not quite like them. I am a little different.

I have a foot in two separate worlds.

Adoption did that to me.

I am always wondering who I am.

Waiting for the circle to close.

Wanting to feel complete.

Adoption did that to me.

Karen Elizabeth

My name is Karen Hollister-Crouse and I write under the pen name of Karen Elizabeth. By day I am a social worker for the county, working with adults who are disabled and experiencing neglect or abuse. I received my BA from SUNY Oswego majoring in Psychology. I then went on and earned my MA in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University. My career was built on a passion to help others. I enjoy writing and aspire to become a published author. My other hobbies include enjoying the outdoors with hiking, camping and gardening.
