Black Lives Matter A Poem By An Ally

White

Clueless

Privileged

What next?

Ally

Real Life

Do something

Don’t just sit idly by.

What do you do when you don’t know what to do?

You stop making excuses and get off your ass.

Uncloak your life from the white privilege that is dripping down your face,

and start with a simple task.

Black Lives Matter

They always have and they always should.

But too much ignorance has veiled the obvious.

Slavery

Adaption

More hatred-

Police brutality

Adaption

More death

More hatred-

for what?

Rage-

and rightly so.

Who are we to tell someone how to feel, how to rage, how to react?

Who are we to forget what got us to this place in the first place?

Black Lives Matter.

That’s all there is to it.

Rage because that is your right;

Fight because that is your right;

Be angry because that is your right;

Protest

Vote

You matter and not just now, but always.

What I will do is use my voice to tell everyone no matter what that Black Lives Matter.

I will be an ally.

No more of this burrowing away to be alone and wish I was doing more,

no more of using that as an excuse to my privilege.

It is time to be uncomfortable and time for a change.

Time for me to do what is right.

Never lose hope.
