His nails clack clack clack

As he walked across the floor.

Upon my arrival, he would attack

Me, and my heart would soar.

He walked with his clack clack clack

His loving face turning white,

When it used to be black black black.

But his eyes stayed happy and bright.

That clack clack clack

I’d listen at night.

Because that clack clack clack

Let me know he’s all right.

But one day the clack clack clacking

It started to slow.

And my heart was crack crack cracking

Tears began to flow.

He looked at me, with big sad eyes

And let me know he had to go.

I’d have to say my goodbyes,

To the best companion I’d ever know.

His nails would clack clack clack

As he walked across the floor.

I’d give anything to have him back back back,

But I’ll never see him anymore.
