Ding. Ding. The bell chimed.
Magma woke up shaking off the rest of her tattered and disappearing dreams. She shook her head and climbed out of bed, putting on a soft pink velour robe and matching slippers.
The bell rang again—this time, more persistent.
“I’m coming.” Milli, the Magna, opened her door to find Neferita with an acolyte, whose name she did not remember. Both appeared to have gotten up and thrown on clothes to get here.
Neferita took a deep breath and sighed. “They are at it again.”
“Again?” She laughed. “Did they stop?” Mili could not help herself. She smiled. It had been three days since she left Jacard and Alara alone in that cave. Since then, she had food and drink taken many times and left the remains at the entrance. They had not left yet. “They are young, celebrating life and love.”
Neferita crossed her arms. “Could they celebrate it a bit quieter? I have had fourteen, yes fourteen, complaints about them.”
The acolyte made an off-hand comment. “You also had five compliments, too. Don’t forget those. Some people appreciate it since Jacard is the only male among us.”
Neferita gave the acolyte a stern look before continuing. “Alara is one of the strongest telepaths we have. Her broadcasting of such details is… is… Well, it’s not proper.”
“Jacard is just as strong.” The acolyte added. “The way he broadcasts some of those things…” She smiled, sighed, and looked into the distance.
“Okay. I’ll get an additional psychic damper in place. I already have two there. If this third does not work, there is not much else I can do.”
“How about breaking them up? Tell them to give it a rest. Something!” Neferita stormed off, with Alexia behind her.
Alexia, yes, that is her name.
Mili had two additional psychic dampers added before going back to bed.
