Darkened Lighthouse

A melancholy grips me;
It tears at my heart.
My children’s minds unravel;
They’re falling apart.
I am a darkened lighthouse,
A beacon lost from sight.
I weep, I scream, I pray,
Into the torment of their night.
Piece by piece they leave me,
My heart aches more each day.
My wishes for their future,
Are woeful and astray.
