Desire

The moon rises, as do my desires.
Beams of light stream through
the open window, silhouetting his form.
Summer sun cools, my body heats,
Awaiting his touch.

Now, lip to lip, his softly sweeping mine.
Taste of sweet wine lingers,
As does the sweetness of his kiss.
Wanting, yearning, needing more.

Tangled bodies sway,
Motion by motion, to the rhythm of desire.
Sultry skin glistens,
Sighs, heavy, making their wanting known.

Dew drops from my lips, trail his sweet skin,
Salty like the sea.
Discovering hidden treasures of his form.
Hungering for more,
They continue, leaving no stone unturned.

Journeying back to his lips, body to body,
Touch to touch, like a hot southern night,
Drenched with anticipation,
We become one.

Ruth Cowan

At a very young age, I found myself lost in the world of books. Through my love of reading, I developed a love for writing. Throughout my life, I have found myself inspired by the life experiences of others and now uses my own life experiences in my writing in hopes of inspiring others the way I was. Using my degree in English and creative writing, I write primarily nonfiction. I believe the way to help others is by sharing our real-life experiences. Being open and honest is the best way to do so. I live by the idea that we are all interconnected, and the more we live by this, the less we will feel alone. Being a mother of six and grandmother of five, I have learned that nothing is certain, and there are surprises around every corner both good and bad. Through the surprises and uncertainties in life, there is always a lesson to be learned and these lessons can and should be shared with others as a way of inspiring them, through compassion and empathy while bringing some hope to them. Faith and family are the largest part of who I am, and why I strive to be the best I can be. I work hard to leave a legacy, especially for my grandchildren.
