Ego Trip
Ruination approaches,
Heavy with truth and guilt.
The knowledge
I have brought this upon myself.
Youth and foolish choices
Consequences wrought,
Headstrong ignorance
those signs, forgot.
Pretending, I was assured victory
I took the ego trip quickly.
So, I made it all about me,
My world, my reality,
Instead of seeing things
As they should be.
So, I stood to face the result
nervously,
Wishing for wisdom
To face the costs
of what I have done.
