Beginning to feel strong

And worthy

After so long

Of Feeling the exact opposite

Can be overwhelming

It can be

Such a shock to the system

To learn that

You are more

Than what they told you

To overcome

When everything

Was pointing

To that being impossible

To feel

A sense of belonging

When you’re so used to being

Othered

Can give you a sense of

Disbelief

Knowing now

That you’ll never let

Anyone

Tell you differently

Ever again

Samantha Quain

I am a 25 year old graduate from Rowan University with a degree in Journalism and Radio/TV/Film. I have always enjoyed writing and reading, sometimes a little too much! I love all things Disney, Broadway, and dramatic. Currently working as a recruiter but would eventually want to get into writing professionally.
