Kind Gods
Walk through the graveyard late at night
And read headstones by candlelight
Embrace the souls who walk behind
And imagine their gods are kind
Step lightly through tangled weeds
And listen as the world recedes
The afterlife is undefined
So imagine your gods are kind
Have a seat underneath the tree
And let the moonlight help you see
Spirits that frolic unconfined
And hoping that their gods are kind
When the dawn creeps overhead
And the shadows have gone to bed
You wonder if it’s in your mind
And if the gods are ever kind
