True Crime Podcast: Last Podcast On The Left

True crime documentaries are more popular than ever. Netflix reigns supreme with dozens of true crime documentaries and shows. Fellow true crime enthusiasts binge watch hours of shows like “The Staircase” and “Making a Murderer.” However, if you’ve barreled through all of the shows and need something new to sink your teeth in, true crime podcasts are the next best thing.

One of my favorite crime podcasts is Last Podcast On The Left. Ben Kissel, Marcus Parks, and Henry Zebrowski host the podcast, discussing everyone under the sun. Serial killers, cults, and horror mythology are just some of the creepy topics covered on their show. The trio lends some humor to otherwise dark subjects. Who else could discuss Jeffrey Dahmer and The Jonestown Massacre for hours without seriously bumming out the audience?

The three men are good friends, and their chemistry adds a light-hearted tone to the macabre topics. That’s not to say the show is disrespectful in any way. Rather, they consistently state to listeners that the humor presented is never to insult the victims of these crimes. I believe their candor is both professional and helpful to fans.

Perhaps my favorite aspect of Last Podcast On The Left, is the meticulous research that goes into each topic. The facts presented create a clearer picture of the subject discussed. For Example, their episodes on Rasputin are rich with detailed information. Rasputin is known to most as a Russian mystic and advisor to Czar Nicholas II. He was rumored to be a sorcerer, devil-worshipper, and all around evil guy. The “Last Podcast” crew dedicates several episodes to Rasputin, leaving no stone unturned.

So, if it’s a gritty crime show you want, Last Podcast On the Left has it. You can even see them on tour, in which they are making rounds in the United States and then heading overseas. The episodes are available to listen to on iTunes or SoundCloud. You can follow the tenacious trio on the social media platforms Instagram and Twitter.
