Read: Part 1

Once Alice went out the door, the flashbacks of the past overtook her.

She teared up as she got into her car.

It was two years ago, and Alice thought she had found the love of her life. After all, she had met Sebastian at college. They both attended the University of Texas at Brownsville. From the start, they both kept bumping into one another with the many classes they had together. It was clear they both had undeniable chemistry. It was clear Sebastian smote Alice, and she was with him too. It was not too long after the school year started their dating life began.

Before long, Sebastian asked Alice to be his girlfriend. Then after two years, he proposed on Valentine’s Day in front of her family and friends. Alice had been so busy with school and working part-time. They did not have time to be with each other. But he planned the proposal in secret. The engagement was a short one within a year they both married in a little church outside the city of Dallas, Texas. It was a ceremony for a hundred guests. The only ones invited were family and close friends.

Alice and Sebastian loved the intimacy of the ceremony.

This is perfect, whispered Alice.

Back in the present, Alice could not control her tears.

How could I have been so blind?  I am such an idiot! Stupid! Stupid!

She scolded herself in the car. Outside, the sky got cloudy, and it rained. The downpour hit her car windows. Alice pulled her car to the side of the road for a moment. She wanted to wait for the rain to calm a bit. As she heard the thundering, she cried once again.

How after all this time could I be crying for him!

Suddenly, Alice’s phone rings.

Dammit, it’s work!  I am late!

She decides to smoke another cigarette to calm her nerves.

Perfect…
