Moments, A Poem About Family

Moments.

The alarm rings and I wake up like clockwork

For another day to begin.

Then my children get up and they move on with the morning rush

Of trying to get ready for the day.

They begin eating their breakfast while I hear their enchanted laughter

As I hear the Looney Tunes cartoons from the background.

I begin to tackle the day by getting dressed for another work day

As my husband gives me a kiss goodbye on the cheek as he sets off for yet another tedious day of work.

As for me, I sit still and take a deep breath from within.

I hear my children’s voices calling out to me

Like a song, “Mama, Mama”.

Still, I  would not change our routine for anything or anyone

As chaotic it may get at times, as we tackle each day.

This is my family and these moments I have with them can at times become busy,

but I would not change it for the world.

I can see that they are getting older and as time goes on

I want to hold onto the memories as much as I can before they go off into the world.

This is why each morning I take a step back

I enjoy these moments with my family.
