Music playlists and writing.
In an episode of my podcast, I spoke about how music is a big part of my writing process.
In the last four years, making music playlists has helped me to shape and develop each one of my characters and therefore has led to being able to carry out my stories.
For example, in my most recent book, a thriller coming out, I hope, this year. I set a playlist, which is part of the classical dark album on Spotify.
One of the main things I come to appreciate the most is the characters in my story identifies to every one of those songs which are all under the album entitled, Classical Dark: Classical and Soundtrack Noir.
The beautiful part of this process is while I am writing and the music is in the background, I can carry each one of those scenes and envision it perfectly in my head. This was the case for my latest work. Each of the characters had their own song and as I played each of the pieces of music, I could write and connect them to the plot that would carry the story.
As I mentioned, my music playlists have become essential to my writing process. Each of the music has a crescendo that escalates and helps me to plan the vision in my work. I started this process four years ago, and it has made such a difference in the way I write or pursue a scene. But the best part is that I love being able to choose the music for every one of my characters first. Once I have that set, the rest comes together.
I know this process may not be for everyone. But it works for me. Therefore, I discussed it on my podcast. I wanted to share this advice so it may help you. Classical pieces help in the creativity of my writing. But I have chosen other music, it depends on my characters and the story I am creating for the reader.
As of now, I have a set of three playlists for my latest book. I hope this advice will help you. It has made a big difference for me. I will also place the episode of my podcast for you to take a listen to it. I hope it inspires you.
