Natural Beauty

Natural beauty
Is an everyday thing.
Why folks only notice beauty
when they see makeup?
Makeup is war paint.
You wear it when you’re on a mission.
To enhance or
change your looks.

A person is beautiful
Everyday
with their natural face.

Just because you chose to wear makeup
everyday
like it’s part of your wardrobe
does not make you pretty, beautiful, or unique.

If you can’t be without it
because your face scares children,
makes women go into labor and
has stores pulling our Halloween candy saying “trick or treat”
it’s a personal issue.

Beauty
is beyond skin deep
I’m tired
of being defined as beautiful
because I decide to wear makeup one day
So back up before you speak
how about giving me or any woman
a real compliment.

Plant, Cultivate, Grow, Repeat: Doing These Things Will Help You Soar - B.R. Henry I love writing, I am inspired by life events and emotions. I want my work to touch your heart and make you think. Poetry is my favorite genre, making rhymes with words that beat in time to the rhythm of your heart's deepest emotions brings me joy. Babette lives in Pennsylvania with her two children. She holds a Master's of English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, as well a Bachelor's in Marketing from Virginia State University. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honors Society. Babette enjoys writing poetry and trying her hand at short stories. Babette is active in her community; she runs a Daisy Brownie Girl Scout troop and is on the board for a Theatre Company. She works on projects for Autism Awareness, Homelessness, and Cancer. Babette's favorite motto is “The one who dies with the most toys wins”-Unknown
