5 Tips To Help With New Years Goals

This new year, 2018, I would like to work on spreading kindness and positivity throughout my own life and with those around me.

I know this is not easy, but I started on this January 1st, and I hope to continue it throughout the year and in years to come. With so much negativity out there, I have decided all of it is toxic, so here are the 5 tips to get you all going on this journey:

1. Affirmations.

I saw on a video where a father had his daughter repeat phrases which only inspire. Phrases like: You are beautiful; You are strong. No one is better than anyone else. We should all treat each other with kindness. I do this in the morning and begin with a prayer. Then I say words like “today is going to be a wonderful and amazing day, and I will not let anyone or anything change it.”

2. Love Thy Neighbor.

By this, I mean try to help those around you. I know sometimes this is hard for us, but I live by the golden rule, and I always treat others as I would like to be treated. Therefore, I try to help those around me. One of the best forms of doing this is when I call people and let them vent. When I am online, I always try to send a positive message or help them with a task they may need done around the house. It does not have to be someone you know; you can volunteer at a pantry or a homeless shelter.

3. Use Positive Words.

When speaking, use positive words that inspire you. When you have a rough day, keep a positive outlook. In your conversations, try to read inspirational stories about people who make a difference.

4. Music.

I love all types of music, but right now, I want to focus on music which inspires and share words of affirmations. I tend to listen to classical music, meditation music, but I also like to add in music that is contemporary too. It does not matter what type of genre you choose just as long as it uplifts you.

5. Journaling.

The last one is journaling. Oprah had this on her show, about inspirational journals and how they help. I have to agree. I bought my own journal and I love to write about the day and focus on being more positive.

I know this can be hard to do, but this year, I am focusing on being a better person, not just for my family and friends, whom I love, but also for myself.Happy New Year 2018!
