Person bent over
Lucas Clarysse

Your mouth is the gun.
Words, the bullets.

Invisible weapons exist,
spraying across the face and chest.
Staggering, pain inflicted
an internal hemorrhage that can’t be healed.

These weapons are always

aimed at the same place;
Locked and loaded.

The heart

takes on damage.

Some feel like they’ve been shot or stabbed,
others simply get blown away struck numb.

Such blows

to the heart

can seem irreparable;

they hurt so bad.

You ache

for days,

weeks,

months,

years.

Numbness intensifies,

hemorrhage spreads.

All you want to do

is wile away and die.

The pain,

the pain

only time

can clear the pain.

B.R.Henry

Plant, Cultivate, Grow, Repeat: Doing These Things Will Help You Soar - B.R. Henry I love writing, I am inspired by life events and emotions. I want my work to touch your heart and make you think. Poetry is my favorite genre, making rhymes with words that beat in time to the rhythm of your heart's deepest emotions brings me joy. Babette lives in Pennsylvania with her two children. She holds a Master's of English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, as well a Bachelor's in Marketing from Virginia State University. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honors Society. Babette enjoys writing poetry and trying her hand at short stories. Babette is active in her community; she runs a Daisy Brownie Girl Scout troop and is on the board for a Theatre Company. She works on projects for Autism Awareness, Homelessness, and Cancer. Babette's favorite motto is “The one who dies with the most toys wins”-Unknown
