Personalities

I wake up with the dreams from the night still lingering on my eyelids

I stretch with the newness of the day.

I kind of brush my hair and throw it in a messy bun,

brush my teeth and smile in the mirror to keep the demons at bay.

I clock on – a businesswoman till five

then I get breakfast ready for the kids to help keep them alive.

My lunch break consists of dishes, laundry, and animal care

I remind myself, after looking in the mirror that I had in fact brushed my hair.

After I clock out, I am the head chef in one of the busiest restaurants in all the land –

I cook, I clean, I do the dishes and take the trash to the trashcan.

I care for the animals throughout the day

and on every conference call, they basically tell me NO WAY!

I do what I can for self-care,

but this is normal for all the parents since the Coronavirus is everywhere.

They call us parents and insist the lives we lead are just busy –

but I believe this is a sign of multiple-personalities.
