I Don’t Know You, But I love You: A Poem To My Unborn Grandchild

I don’t know you, but I love you.
A shadow in the heavens,
A star in the sky.
Glitter on the water tops,
A moon shining bright.
A precious gift from God,
A sweet bundle of joy.
I sit in anticipation,
For you to arrive.
Watching your heart flutter,
Seeing your tiny form.
Tucked away so sweetly,
Safe in your mommy’s womb.
I had a tiny glimpse of you,
The person you may become.
Sugar and spice, rough and tough,
It remains a mystery.
Those who wait to see you,
filled with so much hope.
Your mommy and daddy already love you,
They are gleaming with joy.
You have a big sister, waiting
to play with you.
Cousins to join the fun,
Best friends you will all be.
Aunties and uncles to love you,
To share your hopes and dreams.
There are many blessing awaiting you,
I can’t wait for you to see.
You may wonder who I am,
I am a stranger to you.
I am your grandma,
And I already love you.
You have my heart,
from the day you came to be.
It will only grow stronger,
As time passes by.
Before long, you will enter
this great big world.
Just know, I may not know you,
But I already love you.
