Flowers

You’re beautiful.

You smell fragrant.

Every part of you is poisonous.

Just one touch

and your venom slowly spreads-

affecting the mind,

making them see

you

your way.

Your seed produces beautiful offspring-

beguiling,

but hidden deep

within the stems are thorns

waiting to strike.

Though young,

your poisons run through them-

flowing,

clouding their minds.

All bend to your will.

The bees carry the antidote.

With love, light and water,

your true zest for life

is seen.

Your offspring will grow

to be captivating,

without the need to capture.

This too,

is true for us.

Raise

your child

with hate

and all they know

is hate.

Filled

with the poisons

passed

from parents.

Raise

your child

to be open

accepting the differences

in others.

They become

captivating

blooming

like a beautiful flower.

Its petals

open

to receive

love and learning.

It’s not too late

for us either.

The world is changing

before us.

Blooming

into the most beautiful

and fragrant

of all flowers.

Accept it

for its beauty

is different from yours.

Learn

how to live

with blossoming differences.

Make the world

a beautiful

flower garden.

B.R.Henry

Plant, Cultivate, Grow, Repeat: Doing These Things Will Help You Soar - B.R. Henry I love writing, I am inspired by life events and emotions. I want my work to touch your heart and make you think. Poetry is my favorite genre, making rhymes with words that beat in time to the rhythm of your heart's deepest emotions brings me joy. Babette lives in Pennsylvania with her two children. She holds a Master's of English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, as well a Bachelor's in Marketing from Virginia State University. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honors Society. Babette enjoys writing poetry and trying her hand at short stories. Babette is active in her community; she runs a Daisy Brownie Girl Scout troop and is on the board for a Theatre Company. She works on projects for Autism Awareness, Homelessness, and Cancer. Babette's favorite motto is “The one who dies with the most toys wins”-Unknown
