Pretty Little Shadow

I no longer know what this place is

It draws me deep within its grasp

I’m the pretty little shadow that once lived

The shadow they don’t notice that struggles to pass

Many come and I study them in this stillness

Some even go when they are taken from an illness

I watch from every window their love bloom of marigolds

What a beauty it is, for me this place keeps a tight hold

I came and made beautiful music with a soldier

As I went in my sleep with the same man when the war was over

I’ll wait for him and together we will walk those tracks of white

We will dance to the harmonious melodies again as day turns to night

Until then, I’m the pretty little shadow that still lives here
