My First Psychic Visit

I’ve always wanted to go to a psychic, but the opportunity never presented itself to me until recently. When I was invited to attend a free psychic reading, I jumped at the chance. While I do consider myself a spiritual person, I would say I was a little  skeptical of this woman’s abilities. I believe that people can certainly have premonitions, but I wasn’t sure if someone would be able to look into my soul within a moment’s notice.

I found myself interacting with the psychic as I would with any stranger while sitting on a park bench. After we exchanged pleasantries, she told me that she sees an old woman who really likes flowers, having beautiful blue eyes with specks of brown in them. This was my grandmother’s description to a T. I took a deep breath and I tried to  make sure my voice didn’t crack as I was still trying to maintain a healthy level of skepticism.

She told me that my grandmother missed family dinners, what she often shared with my mother and I. When she was a youngster, her house always seemed like the place to be. My whole family would gather around and we would have family dinners and picnics together. I took a deep breath and simply said thank you.

Then she said, “Right now you’re thinking about the time that your grandmother made an apple pie and you asked her why she was only using green apples.” That was of course very true and my most vivid memory of my grandmother. I was in her kitchen watching her cut up apples and place them into a bowl, and I asked why all of the apples were green. Bold as I recall, she told me she “only had green apples to use”.

I have always believed that my grandmother is still part of my life even after she passed away. My little cousin has interacted with my grandmother while he dreams and is even able to identify her and her yellow house from photos. My cousin has never been to her house and had no interactions with her, as she died many years before he was born.

My grandmother’s resourceful and nice demeanor was something that I always admired about her, even when I was little. This psychic also said my grandmother was proud of me, as are many others, but they wanted me to get more sleep. Like most college students, I all too often trade my sleep in for my next cup of coffee.

The psychic told me something that I needed to hear for a long time. She said, “they want you to know that you often think you’re a burden to others around you, but you’re not. You’re very respected.” My disability makes this a very painful reality as I often feel as if I am the cause for difficulty in the lives of people that I love and care about.

Another thing that I just really needed to hear, was that “someday a child would come into my life”. I’ve always wanted to be a parent, but due to my health issues, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do.

One thing that I would never have expected her to mention was my High School Physical Education teacher, whose name was Tiffany. She was a very supportive person in my life and she still wonders how I’m doing and thinks of me often. My relationship with Tiffany is not something that’s prevalent in my life anymore and isn’t something that she would be able to guess, especially not that she was my gym teacher. Tiffany did open up a lot of doors for me. She taught me how to ride a bike and she taught me how to make grilled cheese sandwiches.

I’m not saying that all of this is true, but it was kind of eerie how accurate many things were and I pray that they are true.

No matter what, I’m glad that I was able to check something off my bucket list. I am very thankful that I got the chance to have this experience.
