Remember

Remember when
That Teddy Roosevelt said
“The forward race is destined to raise the backwards race”
What did you learn to change?
Do you know your experience?
How did you get to this place in time?

Remember when
Martin Luther King said
“The Negro is still not free . . .
Crippled by the manacles of segregation
and the chains of discrimination.”
What did you learn to change?
Do you understand your past?
How educated are you willing to become?

Remember when
Malcom X said
“Wrong is wrong,
no matter who does it
or who says it.”
What did you learn to change?
Where is your faith?
Do you believe in right and wrong?

Remember when
All people can talk about
Are what they remember.
Do you understand the
Significance of that remembrance?
Have you learned what you need to move forward?
Are you ready and willing to take up the mantle?

Remember when
We cannot live in remembrance
We must learn from the past
To move forward
You are still learning to change?

B.R.Henry

Plant, Cultivate, Grow, Repeat: Doing These Things Will Help You Soar - B.R. Henry I love writing, I am inspired by life events and emotions. I want my work to touch your heart and make you think. Poetry is my favorite genre, making rhymes with words that beat in time to the rhythm of your heart's deepest emotions brings me joy. Babette lives in Pennsylvania with her two children. She holds a Master's of English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, as well a Bachelor's in Marketing from Virginia State University. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honors Society. Babette enjoys writing poetry and trying her hand at short stories. Babette is active in her community; she runs a Daisy Brownie Girl Scout troop and is on the board for a Theatre Company. She works on projects for Autism Awareness, Homelessness, and Cancer. Babette's favorite motto is “The one who dies with the most toys wins”-Unknown
