Secrets

This poem is related to the Covingport Manor series. It can be a standalone poem, but if it interests you, it has foreshadowing and insight for the short story series!
Strangers hide behind friendly masks,
Friends and foes can be hard to distinguish.
An innocent was incriminated and slaughtered,
Punishment for innocence lost will be repaid.
Hidden in the mountain woodlands,
Lie the secrets of the Lord’s slaying.
He shall be cursed to roam the manor grounds,
Until the truth becomes unveiled.
Forced to walk the Earth alone,
On the anniversary he shall feel.
Those who believe shall be left behind,
And the loyal will hide the clues to find.
Cursed shall be the impersonators,
Consequences are the price of greed.
Find the one who loves the beast,
For the key to freedom lies in the seed.
What was once stolen with bloodshed and deceit,
Shall be returned to the kin with unvarnished truth.
