She Within Me

She knows better.

She has tried before, but she has not been heard.

She keeps whispering.
The same message; over and over again.

She knows the chances are slim, but she insists on trying.

A glimmer.
That is all she requires.
A spark of hope to get her message out.
She will continue whispering until they hear her.
Oh, what a wonderful day that will be!
She anticipates being able to speak freely.
To have her message reach outside of the confines
they trap it within.
She longs to take her glimmer and let it grow.
Like a seed which sprouts, she whispers
while the roots take hold inside.
With help, she could nurture the roots.
To intertwine and blossom from within her prison
to reach toward the light.
They hold her tightly
so tightly
her whisper barely escapes from her lips.
They are loud.
They are more forceful than she
in number and strength.
She has her resolve to keep
her flame fanned;
Even against the darkness of their shadow.
She whispers.
She must not fail.
They laugh at how inconsequential her efforts
are against them.
She whispers.
They falter.
She whispers
louder this time.
Her voice builds
with courage
and intention.
They pull away, recoiling
in fear and hatred.
They shriek in agony as her light reaches out to find her purpose.
She speaks.
With every word
her message overtakes the darkness.
She prevails
and her host now hears her words.
Hears what she has been telling her for her whole life:
You are worthy.
Shine brightly and go forth to spread your light wherever you go.
She pulses with a beat that matches
the heartbeat of her life.
I take the spark.
My whispers breathing over it to feed the flame.
I whisper out into the darkness, waiting for them to hear me.
I whisper.

Tish MacWebber

Tish Mac Webber's writing is her purpose, creativity is her passion, and jewellery designing is her pleasure. She is inspired by the ocean, especially where the Atlantic Ocean kisses the beaches of Cape Breton Island, where her own story began. She is the author who is Always Thinking... the jewellery designer who is Always Blinging...and her superpower is always being full of surprises! Tish MacWebber, Always Blinging… her jewellery designing hobby is the latest addition to her website. Her speciality is creating one of a kind, custom designs for her clients. She loves to delight her customers with her interpretations of what they order, staying true to her gifts of being full of surprises, and putting her talents to full use. In October 2018, her first book, From Where I am Sitting... A Collection of Cat Tales was published and is available on Amazon. It will be accompanied by her Limited Cat Tales Jewellery Collection, which can also be found on her website.
