Silence and Shyness

I hear the digital clock’s shyness
My unruffled day feels timeless
Alone and listening to the silence
Of the muzzled arctic breeze
A quiet zephyr’s foreboding freeze
I hear the garden snail’s widow
Sliding up the kitchen window
Her silvery trail grates and slithers
Along the cold pane’s dirty rivers
I hear an earthworm digging
His defiant endeavors are deafening
Blindly shoveling the muddy ground
A dark burrow where he cannot be found
The photo was taken by Ivor Steven.
so quiet ! beautiful poem
Thank you Beth .. and some of the words come from an uncle of mine, years ago, he lived out in country, and one day he said “it’s so quiet out here, that at night time I can hear the garden snails climbing up the windows “
Fine musings on silence, Ivor
Thank you Derrick for visiting CHW

Thank you Larry… we all our moments of silence
I feel the line “My unruffled day feels timeless”. Some days just have that endlessness about them.
