Spirits of Christmas Past

A poem about the remains of the holidays

The tree stands,

ornament glass

all about the base.

Haunted by people

who are all gone away,

cobwebs draped as

tinsel used to hang.

Soft carols drift on the breeze,

bringing back dreams of yesterday.

Warmth returning from buried remnants

of family memories to color the tree.

For a moment Christmas spirit lives again.

Tears wash away

the warmth brought on,

By the momentary

visit with the ghosts

of Christmas past.

A lovely nostalgic piece Pattie with a grand finale…
    “Tears wash away
    the warmth brought on,
    By the momentary
    visit with the ghosts
    of Christmas past.”
