Stolen Moments

What is a stolen moment? It is a moment that once was a beautiful flower ready to blossom. Instead, that moment was trampled, burned, and spit on until it began to wither away. One big drama going on is about the remake of a fictional movie. As with many shows and movies of the past, they get a century reboot. Getting into the speech on why no one has an original thought to create new stories is moot. There isn’t anything wrong with using the advancements in technology to reboot movies for the youth today. But why all the backlash? Complaining over what a cast should look like; trying to justify a work of fiction as reality. A moment stole because when we could be rejoicing a movie cast in the diversity of the world we live in, instead, we are cutting it down. The beauty of the moment is gone. Stuck in the minutia of bureaucratic crap of the past.

For a world that that is constantly moving forward; why do we linger in the past? Actually, for a country as “multiculturally advanced” as to behave like prehistoric goons are ridiculous. Moments are stolen from a person in direct contact with a situation followed by the people it reaches. When we should be rejoicing, we are scratching out the eyes of another due to our own shortcomings or insight.

When children storm a store and vandalize it like a joke. When Senior Citizens can’t walk the streets freely for fear of being attacked. Who stole their moments? What precious moment was taken that no form of learning or consequences were had? We are supposed to learn from the past to create a better future. Instead, we are tearing down the beautiful teaching moments of the past and using them as a crutch to burn the future. Everything grows: children, plants, animals. All the creatures of the earth grow. If you stunt their growth you are creating a stolen moment. Why not embrace growth and help it blossom so no one has to experience another stolen moment?
