“Terrifier” SUCKS

Terrifier is the dumbest movie I have seen on Netflix. I’m a horror junkie for sure. I love horror movies, horror merch, books about serial killers, ghosts, demons, and mass murderers. Anything with blood guts and gore, I love. This weird affinity for the darkest recesses of human nature is nothing new. In fact, I grew up watching Tales From the Crypt and reading books about killers that were written for teens and sometimes even adults.
I had some time off from school this week, so when I saw that creepy clown in my Netflix cue, I had to watch.
I remember when Netflix was all abuzz about Veronica. If you don’t remember, Veronica was a story about a teenage girl who becomes possessed by a demon after she and her friends decide to use an Ouija board in hopes of contacting loved ones who have passed away. Veronica was billed as the scariest film on Netflix, and some said the scariest film ever. Veronica had a very cliche story, but the plot was handled well and it did make me want to sleep with the light on.
Terrifier, on the other hand, was nothing but a nonstop gore-fest with no real plot. It was bad.
Let’s start with the killer. I will tell you that I have seen almost every horror movie in modern history, and I’m proud of it. With that said, Terrifier seems to be an amalgamation of every popular horror movie villain in modern history.
The makeup that the main character’s wearing throughout the film is white, much like Michael Myers and the other 80’s horror movie icon Jason. This killer never says a word. I understand what they’re trying to do because silence is scary and not knowing a killer’s motive is much scarier than if we, as an audience, know why they did it.
But this concept has been done to death.
Also like Jason, the killer chases attractive drunk girls around in hopes of finding his next victim. The victims of the crime are your classic scary movie bimbos who don’t know that you shouldn’t drink on Halloween. It also seems like these attractive drunk girls, who are wearing very slutty costumes, got together and decided they were going to take the way home that consisted of only of dark alleys and isolated apartment buildings.
When the killer finally catches his victims, we get to see a remake of Saw. The killer wearing strange makeup rides a tricycle around the area and then he slowly and methodically cuts his victims to pieces. After he’s done cutting up his female victims, he wears their hair as if it’s a wig, and then he puts it on their boobs like a bra for some reason. I think this was supposed to be funny, but I just found it kind of confusing.
I wish I could go on, but there really isn’t much else to tell you other than there will surely be another one of these crappy movies. I’m sure that there will be a sequel because when the cops finally catch the villain and shoot him, he is still alive. Like most villains, the title character from this film possesses supernatural powers that make him immortal.
I wanted to see something original and, instead, I got a bloody, nasty mess that had nothing to do with creativity — just a cash grab for Halloween.
Terrifier is, in my opinion, the worst movie on Netflix.
