The Other Pandemic

We need to talk about the other pandemic,

the one that lurks in the shadows,

and in every silence.

There’s no use pretending it doesn’t exist,

another woman is assaulted,

another woman is missing,

another woman is murdered.

Their lives dissected, interrogated, autopsied.

You don’t get it,

no accountability, no justice,

violence continues in every silence.

Behind the ‘Unforeseeable’

Behind the ‘Private’

Behind the ‘Unfathomable’

is our sister,

is our mother,

and our daughter.
