When your body betrays you,

What is left behind?

Your dreams,

Your ideas,

Your love,

Your memories?

Can that ever be enough?

When someone’s

Physical presence

Can be so immutable.

Who can ever really know

How things will turn out.

It’s so hard,

To put your faith

In anything other

Then what you can see,

Can touch,

Can hear.

Where does this leave us?

On this rock,

Floating through space.

How can we ever,

Really know,

What our life will mean?

The things

They expect us

To believe,

Aren’t so reassuring

Anymore.

I choose to believe in energy,

And will,

And beauty,

And most, of all love.

Not from above,

But with those

Who matter the most.

Who will be there

Through the darkness,

No matter what.

Samantha Quain

I am a 25 year old graduate from Rowan University with a degree in Journalism and Radio/TV/Film. I have always enjoyed writing and reading, sometimes a little too much! I love all things Disney, Broadway, and dramatic. Currently working as a recruiter but would eventually want to get into writing professionally.
