The new year brings us new shows and returning fan favorites, from kids dealing with the “Upside Down” to gossiping housewives hiding a murder. 10. Good Omens (New Series)
Amazon Prime brings us a brand-new miniseries based on the novel by Neil Gaiman of the same name. In a unique take, an Angel and a Demon work together to prevent the rise of the Antichrist. No official release date yet, but Amazon commented on a premiere date of early 2019.
9. The Crown (Season 3)
This critically acclaimed Netflix show returns in 2019. The story jumps many years into the future after the ending of Season Two. Olivia Colman and Tobie Menzies will take over the roles of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. Creators have also confirmed the appearance of such figures as Camilla Parker-Bowles and Lady Diana Spencer.
8. American Gods (Season 2)
Set for a premiere date of March 10th, this Starz drama will return with everyone’s favorite gods. A Neil Gaiman graphic novel adaptation, the show premiered in 2017 to good reviews and ratings. Despite the success, the creators decided to wait two years to premiere the second season. Fans won’t have to wait much longer for the continuation of Shadow’s story, along with the epic rising battle of the new gods and the old.
7. True Detective (Season 3)
HBO’s American Crime anthology has certainly had its ups and downs. Season 1 was a smash hit, praised by critics and viewers alike. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson received Golden Globe nominations. However, when Season 2 angered fans with poor writing and acting, the show was almost canceled. With a new script and cast set for Season 3, True Detective debuts on January 13th.
6. The Umbrella Academy (New Series)
The popular comic book series of the same name was green-lit by Netflix, as a television series, last year. The series is set to premiere on February 15th. Ellen Page stars in this thriller about six adopted siblings. They work together to solve the mystery surrounding their father’s death. In true comic book fashion, the characters also have strange supernatural abilities.

In 2017, Netflix announced the start of production on an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher book series. Much to fans’ chagrin, they cast Henry Cavill (aka Superman) in the lead role. Many fans have rejected the casting of Geralt, the monster hunter for hire. However, the anticipation for the show is at an all-time high. Many fans are optimistic about the adaptation, which will release is still TBA for some time in 2019.
4. Big Little Lies (Season 2)
Based on the best-selling book with the same name, Big Little Lies is back for its second season. The first season brought HBO a slew of awards for acting. Season two is set to be even more outstanding with Meryl Streep added to the cast. There is no date set for the show’s return. Keep an eye out for Summer of 2019.

Get your spellbooks ready for April 5th. Sabrina and the gang are back for a second season on Netflix. Fans loved the darker adaptation of the characters from the well known comic strip. Season two promises to be even spookier.

The new season of the Netflix fan favorite is set to launch in 2019, with no specific date yet. Excitement brewed when the teaser trailer popped up online a few months ago. The end of the video reads “In the summer of 1985 the adventure continues…” Then on New Year’s Eve, creators with a release date of July 4th.
