Top Five Things I Loved About Not Being On Social Media, And I Did Not Die

After a long hiatus of not being on social media for 40 days, I must tell you,  “No, I didn’t die,” and here are the top five things I loved about not being on social media.

 1. Prayer/ Meditate:

The first thing I loved about not being on social media is I could say my daily prayers each day and then sit back and reflect. This is where I could close my eyes and sit quietly and take it all in. I loved this because I could shut the world out each day and not focus on the craziness on social media and I could hear myself thing without the constant notifications which can get overwhelming.

2. Spent quality time writing:

I loved being able to sit each day and be able to focus on my current WIP while not being distracted. All I did was write, and I could focus on the timelines, characters, and plots and I never needed to check my phone. It focused me, and I could work on more than a set of chapters each day.

3. Decluttering/ Cleaning:

Without social media, during this time I had time to do some major cleaning and decluttering and could throw unnecessary items around the house away.  I was determined to declutter and make the house tidier.

4. Family time

The best thing was being able to spend more quality family time with my husband and kids. We all noticed we spend a substantial amount of time on our devices, and while my kids are not on social media, they still focus on the video games.

We could sit down more and do other activities outside of the home.

We also got back to church and focus on the things that matter and realizing that there is more to life than being on the internet.

5.   Staying positive and kind:

The best part of being off social media was not having to read about such negative stories and people online. My focus is to stay positive and be kind, and that is what I plan to do.

I know the news exists, but there is no need to let all the negative things consume you. I have taken those notifications off my phone and push forward to spread kindness.

So, be sure to shake off the bad vibes and stay positive!

Now I am back, I plan to keep up with what I learned, and I hope you all have a great day and as you can see, I didn’t die being off social media.
