Truffles (A Recipe)

When a family occasion comes around or especially during the holidays, I like to make my chocolate truffles. In fact, this past Christmas, I made my chocolate truffles, put them in mason jars decorated like reindeer with a tag labeled reindeer noses, and gave them as gifts. I had to modify the recipe slightly for some of the truffles, using white chocolate for the outer shell, and covered them in red sugar, so they looked like Rudolph’s nose. It was a cute idea I found on Pinterest, just substituting their “reindeer noses” for my truffles.
Ingredients:
*1Pkg Oreo Cookies
*1Pkg Philadelphia Cream Cheese
*1bag Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
*Colored Sugar or Sprinkles
Now, what’s great about this recipe is it’s so versatile. You can use any flavor of Oreo Cookie and any flavor of Chocolate Chip you want. You can also not even use Oreo Cookies, you can use any type of cookie!! I’ve even used graham crackers!
Instructions:
*Crush whole Pkg of Oreo Cookies (Food Processor works best)
*Mix crushed cookies with cream cheese (Make sure it is softened, leave out for a few hours)
*Roll into balls
*Put into freezer
*Melt chocolate chips
*Dip balls into chocolate, put back into the freezer until hardened
*Store in the fridge
My family LOVES this recipe and LOVES when I make these for them at picnics, family gatherings, or for just any occasion. They make wonderful gifts to give your friends and/or family for the holidays. You can also make a gluten-free version by using Glutino Chocolate Cookies instead of Oreos. I believe you might need two Pkg’s of them, however. Enjoy!!
