Violation

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS POEM CONTAINS CONTENT ABOUT RAPE THAT MAY BE DIFFICULT FOR SURVIVORS TO READ

Can you touch your body again after…
Does your mind still feel the pain?

Can you look in the mirror again after…
Does your body still feel the touch?

Can you walk through the door after…
Does your room still feel cold?

Can you feel the same way after…
Does your life still feel vacant?

Violation!

Your body won’t ever forget, the force of rape
The weight of him, smell or taste of him.

Violation!

Your face will always feel the scar of the slap,
The bruises haunt your sleep

Violation!

The house is no longer a home,
they took your things
but most of all your security and comfort

Violation!

You won’t ever feel the same way.
You will grow, you will change
No power will you give to these violators

B.R.Henry

Plant, Cultivate, Grow, Repeat: Doing These Things Will Help You Soar - B.R. Henry I love writing, I am inspired by life events and emotions. I want my work to touch your heart and make you think. Poetry is my favorite genre, making rhymes with words that beat in time to the rhythm of your heart's deepest emotions brings me joy. Babette lives in Pennsylvania with her two children. She holds a Master's of English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, as well a Bachelor's in Marketing from Virginia State University. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honors Society. Babette enjoys writing poetry and trying her hand at short stories. Babette is active in her community; she runs a Daisy Brownie Girl Scout troop and is on the board for a Theatre Company. She works on projects for Autism Awareness, Homelessness, and Cancer. Babette's favorite motto is “The one who dies with the most toys wins”-Unknown
