Why I Love Some Good News

There are so many things going on with our world right now, and sometimes it seems like there is no turning back.   It is hard to watch the news, especially with all of the ways our world has changed since the COVID pandemic started. It was so lovely that we got to see a nice change when actor John Krasinski, formerly Jim, from the hit show The Office started a show called Some Good News on Youtube and was shared all over social media.

You may be asking what was so awesome about it? Well, I will tell you. It is a show that focuses on the positives of the world amid chaos and hones in on good in the world that can come from the pain and suffering of our world.

I was so moved by it from the very start.  My mom in law shared the first video on Facebook, and it started with a globe as you can see him in quarantine. In the first episode, he shared how, even when there is chaos, there should be news that reflects on the good in the world. He posted a message on Twitter with the hashtag #somegoodnews and asked everyone to help share that. Once he had the information, he decided to focus on all the good in the world—his first story was on the healthcare workers and all they do. It showed how people all over the world were grateful; people were able to applaud their health care workers for all of the good they were doing from across the globe.

Each of the episodes reflects upon kindness in the world and helping out others and your neighbors.  It shared videos of older couples dancing and being visited outside the glass doors by their families and loved ones. It also shared students’ graduations through a car rodeo and their teachers.  He also shared an Office reunion with his co-star and friend Steve Carrell. He also had others chime in and share the weather and help him share the news.

Most of all, he encouraged all of the world to get involved and share some good news. He had artwork that was sent to him and focused on praising others and just spread positivity and love, especially during the most challenging months of the pandemic.

I know for my family and me, this has been a godsend.  I appreciate hearing all the good in the world.  I know it is trying times we are going through, and I am not trying to take away from that.  However, it is good to see that amidst trouble, there are stories to share positivity, love, and, most of all, kindness in our world.

Now isn’t that beautiful?
