Wildfire
Haze hangs like a shroud,
blocking out the sun
blue skies turn to beige
streaked with red and orange
pale ash falling as
acrid snow.
Green firs snap and crack,
like roman candles
wild flames race upwards
fanning fierce updrafts
firestorm engulfs
canopy.
High above sparks leap,
spruce, cypress, and pine
ignite, flame, then flash
stoking the raging
fir furnace blazing
inferno.
