Writer Like You: A Poem

I am not a writer like you
I don’t see the same things you do-
I run towards the sadness
while you run from the madness.
You use pencil and I use a pen
You’re not concerned with the who, what, why and when-
I am a writer like you
because I don’t see things as you do-
Our differences bring us closer in likeness
our words together are more than righteous.
You’re on one side of paper, I’m on the other
Ink and lead swirled together like lovers.
I am a writer like you and I am not
You remember all the things that I must’ve forgot
your memories are my dreams
and my past is the forest, your tears the water in streams.
I am the writer, I am you.
