Can’t Believe You’re Gone… A Poem About Grief

This poem is dedicated to my dear friend and someone I considered more like a sister Amy Lemons Lamont who passed away suddenly on June 26, 2020. It is still a shock for me that she is gone. I was just talking with her earlier that day. Never take anyone for granted because you never know when it will be the last time you will be able to talk with them.
I can’t believe you’re gone
It doesn’t seem fair
I had just talked to you earlier
What the heck happened?
Yes, I am angry
I am sad
I want to know
I can’t believe you’re gone
It still doesn’t seem real
Your messages are still there
It looks like nothing changed
But it has
I miss you, Amy
You were more than just my friend
You were family
Can’t believe you’re gone
This doesn’t make sense
You were fine and nothing seemed wrong
Why did you have to go?
Can’t believe you’re gone
I know God has a plan
But I am just not there yet.
