Broken Webs

I’m looking through the glass
your life
You smile, twirl, and pipe
to your followers.
You spin your web
and entangle others
Manipulation and imitation
you draw them in.

The glass fogs up as I
breathe on it.
Helpless.  No way to warn.
Threads
of deception ensnare.
They are wrapped
in a tangled web.  You smile.
then I realize

I am not helpless.  With one
strong strike
the glass cracks under
My hand.
Like your web, the cracks
spider out
and it falls apart.  My
hand bleeds.

I cut your threads and
I smile.

Lisa Post

I am a wife, mother of 7, student, and writer. I love to write fiction, poetry, and humorous non-fiction. In my spare time, I love to quilt, read, and drink lots of coffee and oolong tea.
