My Inner Core

At the center of my life
Are teachings passed
Onward, from word and
Action, sacred gems
I foster and treasure.

At the center of my life
Is freedom eternally
Bound, my desire
Unquenched to be
Like my parents.

My mother, strong-willed
Beautiful in song and
Mind, never giving up
On me, pure and
Innocent in the world.

My father, a lion among sheep,
Never bowing to anyone,
Teaching me all men are
Created equal.
Imparting sacred wisdom.

Lessons to pass down from
Generation to generation.
Aspiring to journey from
A lonely girl to a woman,
Without regret or shame.

Aspiration in my bones
An unquenchable
Desire to impart
Tradition and values
Among our world.

Be it a wife, a mother,
A teacher, however
Fate decides.
I will do among
Misguided souls.
