Sticks And Stones

Words may not hurt
but actions do
you watch what you say;
but not what you do.

Your performance is perfection
go ahead and take a bow
your world is a stage;
it’s all you have now.

Is that all you’ve got?
Those sticks and stones
Twisted and hard;
You’ll end up alone.

Sometimes rocks glitter
and glow in the sun
they seem warm and unique;
But the worst is yet to come.

They are hard to crack
inside they are dark
smash them together;
you make a spark.

It’s funny how words and
actions can be opposed
Like the Siren’s music;
Relationships are overthrown.

Sticks can be twisted,
weak, and thin
used to start fires;
manipulate flames to begin.

Words may trick others
in believing false truths
but actions speak loudest;
therein lies the proof.

Lisa Post

I am a wife, mother of 7, student, and writer. I love to write fiction, poetry, and humorous non-fiction. In my spare time, I love to quilt, read, and drink lots of coffee and oolong tea.
