a crowded room of people. Close to the camera is a pair of pale hands holding smartphones. In the background, blurred, is a white man with brown hair.

Have you ever been in a crowded room?
It’s not just the noise that’s there.
It’s not just the people and their stares.
It’s not just the room full to bursting.

In your mind, you’re panicking.
But outward, you present fine.
Someone says hello and a conversation follows.
You’re not okay though.

What if you say something wrong?
What if you do something wrong?
You’re awkward and clumsy.
What if they notice?

Have you ever been in a crowded room?
It can feel like you’re miles away.
Even though you’re only at elbow’s length.

What if you say something?
What if you do something wrong?
All the anxiousness. All the worry.
If someone looks close enough-
they’ll see you tremble.
Funny how no one bothers.

Have you ever been in a crowded room?
You’re miles away but at elbows length.
