The Other Mother

Other mother

Are you my other mother?
Among the many
Heavensent for father
To feel whole again?

The fire rages on
In his soul,
In spite of his
Lonely heart.

I am my father’s
Daughter, a
Spitting image
Within his pride.

Born small and meek,
Now strong and brave,
Among the savannah
Plains of the wild.

A concrete jungle,
Caged souls
Following my
Father’s footsteps.

A lone lion
Desiring love,
In a game where
Winner takes all.

A lone patriarch,
Looking for
A soulmate,
A happy ending.

Does that not
Matter to you?
As you wish for
A fairytale ending?

Look at you!
You have my
Father’s heart
In your hands!

Why fret over
The sins of
The past?
Good or bad?

Your tears stain
Your doll-like face,
Beautiful, hiding
Fear and sorrow.

You have left,
You have returned,
You have left,
In reckless motion.

Breaking my
Father’s spirit,
In wake of fear
And insecurity.

Fueling a
Destructive,
Wrathful,
Jealous storm.

A vengeful
Hurricane,
Paying no heed
To orphaned ruin.

You claim the
Ghosts of past,
Haunts your
Happy ending.

Among your woes
You forget how
You have his
Heart in your hands.

No rival,
Not my birth
Mother, could
Say the same.

Look into my eyes,
You will see the
Love I have, as
Well as my sorrow.

I am my father’s
Daughter, his
Mirror image,
Free-spirited.

Are you my other mother?
Among the many
Heavensent from God
To a gentile like my father?

If only you knew
How treasured you
Are, beloved by
Our creator.

If only you knew
The scar you left,
Upon my heart, in
Wake of jealousy.
