She dances among the stars
Catching wishes and dreams
Tucking them away
Within her heart

She voices those dreams
Building kingdoms and
Wonders of the world
Creating works of art

The world tries to silence her
Muttering and whispering
Declarations of disapproval
Words of hate

They try to smother her
Dreams and works of creation
They try to knock her down
In a cruel degrading fashion

You’re not like us,
Why even try?
They openly declare
Hoping to humiliate her

You’re not part of
Our narrative,
They say with determination
She will never be like them

All the while she
Tunes them out
Chasing wishes and dreams
Among cars and shooting stars

Not desiring approval
From those that snicker
And sneer because of
Who she is

She believes in good
In the beauty of humanity
Where her mind and heart lie
For all eternity
