Twilight

The last few moments of darkness
Before the dawn rips through the night
A calmness as the world starts to wake
And my heart fills with light
‘Another chance’ my soul screams out
I tell myself I can do it this time
To seize the day even for a moment
To give the day reason and rhyme

I have to remind myself it’s okay
Life’s a marathon and not a race
I have to be gentle and kind to myself
And live my life at my own pace

The twilight reminds me it’s never too late
Every day is a chance for me to thrive
Keep my chin up and keep moving forward
As long as I am still alive.
