Bad Experiences Turn Into Life Lessons

A Terrible Week

My life has been a complete mess this week. I flew to Texas for my best friend’s Master’s graduation. We were stranded in Dallas on the flight back for over 12+ hours. When we finally came home, I realized I had the deadline wrong for my first article for another internship I started last week. Then I also had an appointment for a Hoyer lift. I needed to find someone to go to the appointment with me to be trained on how to use the equipment. Everyone I know was busy and could not come with me. The physical therapy clinic threatened to bar me from services if I canceled again.

A Grim Outlook

No one was listening to me, and the situation felt impossible. As a last resort, I called my orthopedist’s nurse to explain the situation. She sent the order to the company providing my home physical therapy. The company will order the lift, bring it here, and train my best friend to use it. The nurse will explain that I tried to make it, but if I’m banned from therapy forever at that clinic, I will deal with that issue later.

Life Lessons

Every bad experience teaches me a lesson. As stressful as this situation was, I found a solution. No one did it for me or saved the day at the last minute. The last few years have been hard on me.

I lost a lot of hope, strength, and personal autonomy. Everyone had to help me with everything. This situation showed me that I could handle things on my own. People aren’t always able to help you or be there for you. You can be upset about it. Emotions are normal, but at the end of the day, do what is best for you and what you need. It only hurts you if you allow others to ruin something for you.
