Standing on the precipice

Anticipating the plunge
Yet, poisonous talons of fear

Tear into my flesh

Sinking deep into my hand,
anesthetizing prefrontal cortex

Pumping procrastination

obstructing my veins
with anxiety and doubt

Blue inky blood

Childish scribblings
Etched underneath

Ashen complexion

and dark circles
Surrounding my eyes

Fidgety fingers

Ripping at nails and skin
fingers bleeding

The sound of the clock ticking

Mocking as the hands’ race,
Time’s slipping away

Deadlines approaching

Guilt looming dark,
a hovering black cloud

Looking at a blank monitor

Cursor blinks, reminding me
That it’s time to get to work

the blue-lit screen blinding

Though success beckons,
pushing and cajoling,

To prove to myself

I can achieve my dreams
But how to neutralize

Poisonous clutches of Fear?

With a confident gait
I must take that leap of faith

Punch Fear in the face

Nothing will stand in my way
Not even myself!
